TileSafe System
Litokol's co-engineered High-Adhesion Anti-Fracture System — SafetyGel membrane, SafetyTex reinforcement and PowerGel adhesive — that waterproofs and bonds large-format tile and slabs over cracked or moving substrates, indoors and out.
- ✓6-Dimensional Elasticity absorbs substrate movement in every direction
- ✓Crack Prevention technology stops cracks transferring to the tile
- ✓Structural adhesion — no mechanical decoupling membrane required
- ✓Installs large-format tile & slabs over cracked substrates (up to 3 mm)
- ✓Waterproofs and bonds as one integrated system
- ✓Works indoors and outdoors — pools, terraces, balconies, facades, radiant floors
The TileSafe System is Litokol's High-Adhesion Anti-Fracture System for installing large-format tiles and slabs of any type and size in high-traffic areas — even on cracked substrates (up to 3 mm). Rather than mechanically decoupling the covering with a preformed HDPE membrane, TileSafe bonds it structurally while still absorbing movement.
Built on SafetyGel's 6-Dimensional Elasticity and Crack Prevention® technology, the system dissipates and neutralizes substrate movement and covering expansion, distributing heavy loads evenly without tension. The result is a single resilient, monolithic assembly that prevents cracks from transferring to the tile and stands up to pools, terraces, balconies, facades and radiant floors.

Configurations
TileSafe System — Base (PowerGel S1+ / S2+)
SafetyGel membrane — reinforced with SafetyTex outdoors and over movement joints — bonded with the elastic anti-fracture PowerGel S1+ or S2+ smart gel. The everyday high-adhesion anti-fracture build for large-format tile.
| Property | Value | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Pull-off Adhesion | ≥ 1.8 N/mm² | EN 14891 |
| Crack Isolation | ≥ 1.6 mm | ANSI A118.12 |
TileSafe System — Pro Max
SafetyGel membrane with SafetyTex bonded with PowerGel Pro Max epoxy gel for the highest-stress installations — pools, facades and unstable substrates — bonding and waterproofing in a single material.
| Property | Value | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Pull-off Adhesion | ≥ 2.9 N/mm² | EN 14891 |
| Crack Isolation | ≥ 3.2 mm | ANSI A118.12 |
System Build-up
- Substrate — Screed, existing tile, concrete, wood, metal, PVC or fibreglass — prepared and primed as required.
- SafetyGel — 1st coat — First coat of the 6-Dimensional elastic, watertight anti-fracture Gel membrane (~0.5 mm).
- SafetyTex — Anti-fracture fabric embedded into the fresh first coat — required outdoors and over movement joints.
- SafetyGel — 2nd coat — Second coat encapsulating the fabric to complete the continuous membrane.
- PowerGel adhesive — PowerGel S1+/S2+ or Pro Max applied over the cured membrane to bond the covering.
- Covering — Large-format tile, porcelain slab, marble or natural stone.

How It Compares
| TileSafe System | Preformed HDPE / uncoupling membranes | |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesion | Structural bond (>C2 / R2T) | Mechanical decoupling |
| Waterproofing | Integral to the system | Separate layer / sheet |
| Application | Liquid-applied, fully conforming | Sheet membrane, seams & cuts |

What It Costs to Install
| Cost detail | TileSafe™ | Alternative A | Alternative B | Alternative C |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Material cost | $0.60 | $1.67 | $2.60 | $1.57 |
| Labor | $0.43 | $1.25 | $1.25 | $1.31 |
| Total installed | $1.03 | $2.92 | $3.85 | $2.88 |
| Cost vs TileSafe | — | 65% higher | 70% higher | 65% higher |
All figures are estimated installed cost per square foot. Competitor material pricing taken from official manufacturer websites; labor assumptions taken from published data sheets. TileSafe labor is based on two rolled coats. Alternatives also require roughly three times the installation time.
Installation Overview
Indoors: apply SafetyGel as the anti-fracture membrane. After the final coat has fully dried, apply a scratch coat of PowerGel with the smooth trowel edge, then comb to thickness and set the tile. Use SafetyTex over expansion or separation joints.
Outdoors: embed SafetyTex into the fresh first coat of SafetyGel, then complete the membrane. Once dry, bond the covering with PowerGel S1+/S2+ or Pro Max. Back-butter in pools, on facades and in high-stress areas.
